Senstate Technologies is a technology product company, which develops and implements solutions for smart cities, monitor of the environment and operational efficiency for the public and private sector in the conditions of transition to zero emissions and environmental stability.
What kind of solutions do you offer and what is your focus?
Senstate Technologies is a comparatively young, product oriented technology company. We chose to stay here in Bulgaria to develop solutions with high added value and potential for world growth. Our focus is in the development of complete solutions to monitor the environment and manage sensor systems in the cities. We settle our own center for hardware research and development. Currently working on more than 20 various software projects, which form complex, scalable architecture of applications and cloud systems.
How exactly the offered solutions help the transition towards zero emissions and care of the environment?
In the sense of the accepted commitments Europe and the Green Deal all goals for decarbonisation and transition towards zero emissions of the society and industry, the government and the local government are obliged to initialize investment, policies and measures in order to achieve the goals. The societies rarely have faced such transformations, in which significant goals have to be achieved in a short time. This is the reason why the EU budgets for green projects are unprecedented for the new program period.
The problem in this type of transformation is that there isn’t anyone who wrote instructions how a society as a local government, state and public to transform to climate neutral. The information what measures have to be introduced, what their specific result will be, surveyed in saved emissions or percentage cleaner air, what is the efficiency of the investment. This type of information is scarce.
The goal of our solutions is to provide instrument for effective decision making for transition towards zero emission thanks to big data and modern technologies.
What is your target group of clients? Companies, government, end users?
Main lead in the green transition will be government and local government. It is expected that they handle millions and billions in budgets with public funds for introduction for measures aiming reduction of the emissions and pollution of the environment. The achievement of even 5% effectiveness in the decisions and investment programs of the government contributes to billions in saved expenses, which can be allocated to other sensitive areas in the budget.
The target group of our solutions is exactly the public sector. Here we need to emphasize that we do not need to sell a software product and few devices, we aim at providing an instrument through which the effectiveness of the measures will be increased. Something even more – we strive to provide instrument for rating the specific impact of each measure. For example with a measure to ban the car traffic in the city center we can determine with a high accuracy which parameters of the environment are approved and with what net effect. Other example is introduction of solutions for green mobility and measure the specific effect on the environment.
Other long-term goal is to use the big data from sensor systems in cities and information on the effect of the specific measures, in order to design world frame with standard indicators for effectiveness of the measures for the environment. This information frame will be publicly accessible to be used by cities, government, institutions from the world to achieve better effectiveness in the decision for city planning and investment in green projects.
The accent in the last years is on the air as a general rule. What solutions in this category do you offer? Which are the other resources of the environment?
The air quality monitoring is key category of our focus, we can provide complex solution for municipalities, schools, industries. The solution is appropriate to establish whether in a municipality there is pollution, which regions are sources of pollution, on which parameters of air quality. It gives answer on the question whether the air quality corresponds to European standards and in what way in real time. The implementation of such solution creates sense in the public for security and responsibility, shows good practices for use of newest technologies for improvement of the life quality and health of the population.
The environment management is a vast science. We offer solutions for monitoring of the background noise in urban area, radioactive background, air quality, level of water and others. These parameters belong to the environment, but as main resource and subject of research we can distinguish air, water, soil. It is considered that this type of assets are shared by the whole population. They directly correlate on the activities of society because they have the ability to absorb pollution. This is the reason why us, people have to be responsible towards this resource and to be able to save it for the future generations.
What will be the role of the big data and sensor systems in the coming green decade?
The processes of digitization of the societies and government accelerate significantly in recent years. Significant factors are noticed, that become necessary part of modern style management. Example of that is the origin of digital ecosystems, thanks to the open data and the provision of publicly available IT resources and measures, which help the unification of group of people searching new and better digital solutions for city environment and management of the government that drive the innovations and attract investment.
Big data, the availability of sensor systems, device networks, open data and policies to promote innovation will be key factors in the green transition. At the same time the willingness of the government to support initiatives, connected with the green technologies will contribute for creation of products with higher value, which will reflect positively on the financial balance of the country.
